What’s New:

Peter Hartlove just had a Humpback whale calf image win an Honorable Mention in the yearly National Wildlife Federation’s annual photo contest! See the Dec/Jan issue.

In January, Hartlove has been invited to participate in the Member’s Only Slide Show at the annual meeting of the North America Nature Photographer’s Association meeting in Palm Springs, California.

This past year, Hartlove visited the Inside Passage in Alaska photographing brown bears, Humpback whales, ice formations in Endicott Arm and other assorted landscapes and animals. He just started using the Nikon D200 in Alaska and has to admit, he likes it! He also went to Fiji to photograph the soft corals and creatures there, as well as southwest Florida to capture the many birds species found there in February. In September, Hartlove and his sister visited southwest Colorado for fall colors.

In 2007, Hartlove is planning a dive trip to Little Cayman in March and land trips to the North Coast of California and coast of Oregon with his niece in June, wildflowers of Colorado in late July and the fall colors in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in September with his sister.

That, along with work and the weekly trips to some close-by wilderness areas, 2007 should be a busy year.
